Wait a minute! Jeeves.. What's a BarCamp?

BarCamp is an international network of user generated conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants — often focusing on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats.

It is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment with intense events and discussions, demos and interaction from participants.

What about BarCampDelhi4?

BarCampDelhi4 is the fourth edition of a BarCamp in the Delhi region. It is proposed to be a camp to get together and discuss/rant/brain-storm/share opinions/information/wisdom about anything. Be it web Technologies, trends, mobile internet, hacking, blogging, vlogs, social media etc. Anything that interests.

BarCampDelhi4 is essentially a "Participation driven event" rather than being an "Attendee driven event". Therefore, it is requested to take up at least one task to participate in the event.

Sounds cool.. Do I need to register?

Now that's pretty simple. Pre-register on the BarCampDelhi4 campers wiki page. There's a signup page for the event. Please put your name and any organization you represent on the form, to give coordinators an idea as to how many people are coming (and to get your nametag printed, instead of Sharpie'd!)

Any preparation?

Bring a laptop - It's great for showing off that program you mentioned in your session. Plus, there are may be many hotspots provided, and plenty of downtime to browse around and look into everything you've learned.

Come early, but not too early - Showing up at the announced starting time will be fine. Show up earlier, and you'll get drafted for setup work (much appreciated!). Show up later, and you'll miss some social activity and maybe your T-shirt.

Be ready to participate - come with an idea for a session you can lead. You don't have to be an expert at your topic; as long as it's not too specific, there'll probably be someone else present who can help you out. You can also contribute to the conversation during a session. This is a great way to participate, since it spreads knowledge from everyone, instead of just the leader.
